The Morris Township Board of Adjustment approved Edward Dwyer’s application to modify an existing nonconforming house at 2617 Springbrook Road, authorizing an entry foyer, enclosed sunroom, interior laundry relocation and a second‑floor bedroom expansion that requires variances for existing side‑yard setbacks.
Dwyer told the board his house was built in 1933 and that the proposed work would remain within the current lateral footprint. Architect Ed McGuire testified and was accepted by the board as an expert; he described the project as an interior and vertical reconfiguration that does not expand the house further into the side yards.
Neighbor William Davis said he lives two houses away and endorsed the proposal, telling the board he had seen the architect’s work and supported the application’s aesthetic and neighborhood improvement. Board members asked about sightlines and impervious coverage; the application was found not to create impervious coverage issues.
A motion to approve passed on the record and the board indicated a written resolution will be prepared for the next meeting. The applicant was congratulated and told to expect the formal resolution and typical next steps toward permitting.
