The Town of Buchanan Police Commission took several routine actions at its Dec. 17 meeting, approving previous minutes, event dates, invoices and a training request.
Approve minutes: Commissioners approved the Nov. 18 meeting minutes after no changes were raised.
Event dates: The commission discussed requests for two community show dates in 2026. Doug Zumoff, speaking for Kevin Crawford, said both 2025 shows had gone "very, very well" and asked for two dates. Zumoff asked that the June date be moved off Father's Day; the commission discussed potential conflicts with high school graduation and officer staffing and agreed to confirm a June date in the coming weeks. The chair moved to approve both dates with the June date subject to determination; the motion carried and the October 18 date was confirmed.
Uniform clothing invoices: The commission reviewed and approved uniform clothing invoices and reimbursements submitted in the meeting packet; no objections were raised.
Training: Commissioners approved a college course request for Sgt. Lopez (packet item) focused on cybersecurity; the item was approved without further discussion.
Adjournment: A motion to adjourn carried and the meeting ended.
Why it matters: The votes cover standard commission business that keeps department operations and community events moving forward. The June event date will be finalized after the commission or staff confirm school schedules and officer availability.
