Commissioners discussed a Norwood High outdoor-restrooms proposal that the applicant initially estimated at about $500,000 and said the school or proponent would commit roughly half the cost.
A member said the proponent explored two approaches: a prefabricated building brought on-site and a design-build process, and early feedback suggests the combined cost for both approaches could be near $500,000. The application indicated the proponent would cover about $250,000, which commissioners said would likely cover the concession portion but left questions about the restroom scope and eligible CPA uses.
Commissioners asked for more detail on design costs, whether restrooms can be separated from the concession stand, and what town departments (DPW, rec) would provide in support. Members also discussed scheduling applicants for mid-January public hearings so proponents can answer specific cost, ownership and maintenance questions.
No vote was taken; commissioners asked staff to follow up with the applicant and to provide commissioners with more detailed cost breakdowns before the hearings.
