Ada County opens six bids for jail kitchen remodel; award recommendation tabled to Dec. 23

Ada County procurement staff opened and read six bids for Bid #26009 (County Jail Phase 1 kitchen remodel and site work). The bidders and total amounts presented on the record were:

- Anderson Construction: $13,420,000
- Barrier Building: $12,620,000
- CSDI Construction Inc.: $13,865,913
- HC Company: $12,994,678
- Iowa Construction dba Petro General: $13,702,842
- Strong General: $16,737,066

Staff told the board they would review bid documentation for administrative completeness and compliance, then circulate recommendations to the sheriff's office and operations for technical review. Given the number of bidders and required checks, staff requested time to prepare an award recommendation. The board voted to table the award recommendation to the Dec. 23, 2025 open business meeting to allow staff to complete the review.

The board also noted the award amount will include the base bid and an owner's contingency (identified in the packet as $1,600,000) that will be included in the total recorded amount for procurement purposes. The tabling preserves the competitive bids while giving staff sufficient time to evaluate compliance and provide a recommendation.
