Commission authorizes president to sign $122,587 VOCA grant and approves reimbursements

The Monongalia County Commission on Dec. 17 authorized its president to sign a Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant award for $122,587 and approved several reimbursement requests for smaller grants and programs.

Colleen Grama told commissioners the VOCA award comes with a resolution and standard federal requirements, and she read the resolution language that "the Commission hereby authorizes Jeffrey Arnett, President of the Monongalia County Commission, to act on its behalf to enter into a contractual agreement" to receive and administer the funds. The commission moved, seconded and voted to authorize the president to sign the grant contract and request reimbursements.

Grama also listed reimbursements and small grants that the commission approved for signature: a community corrections reimbursement of $20,145.87; Governor's Highway Safety Program items (Safe Communities $220.04; Impaired Driving $785.55; Impaired Communities (Nov.) $1,592.74); and an additional VOCA reimbursement of $8,181.17. Commissioners approved the motions to sign the listed reimbursements.
