Hoffman Estates swears in firefighter paramedic and probationary police officer

The Village of Hoffman Estates on a village-produced program formally swore in two new public-safety staff: Doug Miller Jr., who took the oath as a firefighter paramedic, and Charmaine Harris, who was sworn in as a probationary police officer.

Doug Miller Jr. recited the oath to "support the constitution" and to "faithfully discharge the duties of the office" when sworn by village officials, who presented him with his badge and congratulations. Later in the program, Charmaine Harris repeated the oath for her new role as a probationary police officer.

The ceremonies were ceremonial and routine: village hosts and officials offered congratulations and photographs. No formal votes or policy changes were made as part of the swearing-in events.
