Council adopts 2026 meeting calendar option 2 and votes to enter executive session on litigation

The council reviewed two proposed meeting calendars for 2026 and adopted Option 2, a schedule that adjusts regular meetings to accommodate spring break and the AIC conference while avoiding back‑to‑back regular meetings in months with five Thursdays. City Clerk Bessie Jo Wagner presented the calendar and noted tentative special meeting and work session days. Council members weighed public convenience and staff workload before voting to adopt Resolution 26‑10 and to authorize the mayor to sign the necessary documents.

Wagner also previewed upcoming items and confirmed a proposed council retreat at the Glass House on Jan. 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Council agreed to the retreat date. Later in the meeting, a motion was made and seconded to go into executive session to discuss litigation pursuant to Idaho Code section 74‑2061(f); roll call votes were taken and the motion carried unanimously.

The city attorney and legal counsel were referenced as participating in the executive session process; the council adjourned the open meeting portion to move into the closed session.
