County Grants Time Extension for Juniato Terrace Water Main Project to Jan. 16, 2026

County staff told the board that the main construction for the Juniato Terrace Water Main Extension was delayed primarily by North Shore Railroad's requirement that an inspector be on-site during the horizontal boring under Roundhouse Road and several railroad tracks.

The engineer and contractor Geiger Brothers agreed that the schedule required a time extension but did not require an increase in the contract price. Staff recommended, and the board approved, a new substantial completion date of Jan. 16, 2026.

Officials said the additional time will allow the contractor to finish the directional boring and related pipe work without remobilizing. The board approved the extension during the meeting with no roll-call vote recorded.

Next steps: county engineering staff will continue oversight and coordinate with North Shore Railroad and the contractor to meet the revised completion date.
