Board approves carport COA at 4200 Granada Boulevard

The Historic Preservation Board approved a special certificate of appropriateness for a new carport at 4200 Granada Boulevard, a contributing property within the Country Club of Coral Gables Historic District.

Architect Raymond Pacheco explained the proposal to connect a two‑story addition to a one‑story garage, said the design follows the historic building’s rooflines and recommended a barrel‑tile roof to match the existing home. Pacheco told the board the scheme is an improvement over a temporary canopy currently used at the site, calling the carport proposal "an improvement to what they are right now, which is a tent."

Staff recommended approval with two conditions (including a simplified pedestrian connector detail and final material selection). Board members asked for a larger roof cricket and clarified gutter and water diversion details; the applicant agreed to incorporate those tweaks. The motion to approve the COA with staff conditions carried unanimously on roll call.
