Planning board minutes approved; REZ2025‑13 tabled, Petty recused, outgoing member recognized

The Fuquay Varina Planning Board handled routine business at its Dec. 15 meeting, approving minutes, temporarily tabling one rezoning at the petitioner's request, recording a recusal and recognizing an outgoing member.

The board opened by approving the minutes from its Nov. 17, 2025 meeting after a motion by Jane and a second by Nolan; the vote was taken and the motion carried. During public hearings the petitioner for REZ2025‑13 (New Hort Horizon Academy, PIN 0666795819) asked to postpone consideration while a traffic impact analysis is completed; a board member moved to honor the request, another seconded, and the board voted to table REZ2025‑13 to the Feb. 16, 2026 planning board meeting.

Chair Andy Petty announced he would recuse himself from agenda item 4a (the 1212 Rogers Road rezoning) and the board formally moved to recuse Andy Petty from discussion and action on that item; the motion carried.

Later in the meeting staff presented a plaque thanking Andy Petty for volunteer service since 2018, noting his roles as member, vice chair and chair. The board concluded with a brief planning staff report and a motion to adjourn, which carried.
