The Governance, Accountability and Economic Development Committee on Dec. 11 voted unanimously to advance two personnel-related ordinances and to recommend confirmation of several appointments.
Central staff briefed council members on council bill 121,142, which creates a deferred compensation analyst classification following the movement of a unit from SDHR to the Seattle City Employees Retirement System. Staff said the new classification mirrors prior pay and has no material fiscal impact.
The committee also considered council bill 121,141, which adjusts civil service status for a small set of positions (some positions moving to exempt status and others returning to civil service); staff described minimal net savings of about $50,000 attributable to classification adjustments rather than civil service status changes. The committee voted 5–0 to recommend both bills to full council.
On appointments, the committee recommended confirmation of reappointments Thomas J. Kelly and Lisa Reager to the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (appointments 3107 and 3108) and recommended confirmation of Jonathan Shermer to the Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission (appointment 3437). All appointment recommendations passed 5–0 and will be forwarded to the City Council.
