The RSU 52/MSAD 52 board voted to adopt the Androscoggin County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan (2024) update as a condition of pursuing federal mitigation grant funding.
Administration explained the plan and noted FEMA requires adoption of a local hazard-mitigation plan to make the district eligible for certain mitigation grants; the immediate purpose is to support the district’s application for a generator at the high school. Gabby (grant staff) summarized the public-comment period (opened Dec. 5, closed Dec. 15) and said no public comments were submitted.
Board member Joe moved to adopt the resolution, Jenny seconded, and the board voted in favor. Administration said a single signed copy will be circulated for board signatures and submission to the county/state/FEMA as required.
No amendments to the resolution were recorded at the meeting. Board members noted the plan’s retroactive 2024 dating was a FEMA administrative accommodation to align the district with the county plan.
