Sweden's resolve holds, nominee says, as country blocks Huawei and ZTE and Ericsson invests in U.S.

The nominee for Sweden told senators the country's backbone is strong despite trade ties to China and said Sweden is clear-eyed about protecting sensitive infrastructure and intellectual property.

In response to a question about Chinese retaliation against Swedish companies, the nominee noted that Swedish administrative courts have upheld restrictions banning Huawei and ZTE from Sweden's 5G build-out, and cited Ericsson's recent $134,000,000 plant investment in Texas as an indicator of continued commercial partnership with the United States.
