HTC holds Macy Lane hardscape and pickleball proposal pending more information on grade and gates

The HTC voted to hold the Macy Lane hardscape application, which includes proposed split‑rail fencing, salvaged gates and a relocated pickleball court, pending additional information on grading and gate placement. Michelle Cole, presenting the application, said the pickleball court had been relocated to the rear of the property where it would be largely concealed by existing vegetation and that the gates are salvaged originals that the applicant proposed to paint gray.

Commissioners expressed concern about the court’s grade: site elevations on the plan show the northwest corner at 14 feet and the southeast corner at 11 feet, and commissioners asked whether retaining walls or other grading solutions would be necessary to create the flat surface required for the court. Commissioners also recommended minimizing the number of visible gates along Macy Road, suggested using a natural‑weathered look for salvage gates, and asked that split‑rail fencing be set back from the property line.

Commissioner Carrie Thornwell moved to hold the application for revisions and provide more information about the pickleball court design, including grading/retaining‑wall plans and simplified gate locations; the motion passed. The commission requested that the applicant provide clarified grading details, any retaining‑wall drawings (if required), and a refined plan showing gate positions set back from the property line.
