The Corinth City Council approved an amendment to the Unified Development Code removing a blanket requirement that all residential fences be constructed with the finished surface facing outward from the property.
Melissa Daley, Planning Director, told council the existing rule had created maintenance problems where homeowners or homeowner associations could not access the outside surface to maintain fences and that the amendment would remove that across-the-board requirement while retaining the smooth-face requirement for fences fronting public streets and public spaces.
Daley said staff would work with developers through the PD process on case-by-case solutions and that the change provides flexibility where existing conditions vary from lot to lot. A council member moved to approve ordinance 25-12-04-58 amending UDC subsection 4.02.01; the motion was seconded and the council voted unanimously.
