Commissioners approve three MHIDD contract increases and pursue SAMHSA GAINS mapping workshop

The county approved three contract increases for MHIDD providers and authorized an application for an in-kind SAMHSA GAINS Center sequential intercept model (SIM) mapping workshop.

Miranda (MHIDD) said the county originally contracted providers for six months because of a budget impasse; now staff are extending contracts through the fiscal year ending June 30 and increasing contract amounts. The increases listed in the meeting were: Aurora Social Rehabilitation Services (+$77,044), NHS Stevens Center (+$1,156,211) and Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center (+$1,147,774).

Katie described the SAMHSA GAINS Center SIM-mapping opportunity as an in-kind training and technical-assistance project that would bring county departments and community organizations together to map intersections between behavioral health and criminal justice and identify alternatives to incarceration. She said the project aligns with priorities in the county's CJAP strategic plan and that staff would submit a strong application.

The board moved and approved the contract increases and the SAMHSA application.

Next steps: MHIDD staff will finalize contract extensions and submit the SAMHSA GAINS application.
