Plainfield — During its voting meeting the City Council adopted a package of ordinances addressing municipal operations, parking and redevelopment.
Highlights of actions on second reading and final passage:
- MC2025-48: Transfer of vital statistics duties to the office of the city clerk; adopted unanimously.
- MC2025-49 and MC2025-50: Revisions to vehicles and traffic rules, including limiting use of streets by non-designated commercial vehicles and a no-parking schedule for certain hours; administration noted detailed hours and affected streets were included in the agenda packet backup.
- MC2025-51 and MC2025-52: Adoption of an amended homeownership small-lot redevelopment plan and a scattered city-owned parking-lots redevelopment plan (planning-board recommendations and state guidelines considered).
- MC2025-53–MC2025-55: Redevelopment plan amendment for the JFK Muhlenberg Hospital site, Block 146 Lot 7 redevelopment plan, and solid-waste utility rate adjustments for nonresidents/commercial customers.

Several ordinances passed by unanimous roll calls; a few passed with one abstention or a single no vote recorded.
