Sweet Home highlights $90.5 million capital project ahead of Dec. 16 vote

Sweet Home district leaders used the board meeting to publicize a two‑proposition, $90,500,000 capital project and to urge community turnout for a public vote scheduled for Dec. 16.

"Please vote," an administrator said after presenting project details and a breakdown of the two propositions that will appear on the ballot. The district said it has held public town halls and published explanatory materials and a video online for voters to review.

Why it matters: The capital project is the largest budget item discussed at the meeting and would fund facility updates, especially at elementary buildings that district staff said need space and maintenance work.

District staff provided a schedule of outreach including a town hall at the middle school and noted the vote will be conducted in a manner similar to the May budget voting process. Final project materials and a mailed postcard to the community were described as part of the outreach campaign.

The board did not take a final vote on the project at this meeting; the project will be decided by voters on Dec. 16. District staff said they will continue public outreach and post additional details on the district website and social channels.
