LPA discusses renderings, scheduling and enforcement as LDC update approaches

Members of the Local Planning Agency spent part of the meeting discussing procedural and administrative items ahead of the land‑development code update.

Commissioners said including conceptual renderings in CPD packets helps the public visualize proposed development and gives the board a clearer basis for finding substantial consistency with the code. Jason Green recommended that, when renderings are sufficient, the LPA explicitly find them "substantially consistent" so staff can avoid needless iterations at the development‑order stage.

The LPA also discussed scheduling two meetings in January — one dedicated to a large project and the other for regular business — and members asked staff to circulate availability. Several commissioners urged an implementation and enforcement update: they requested a public report that lists projects the town has approved and tracks permitting status and outstanding code‑enforcement issues so the public can see progress on rebuilding and compliance.

Commissioners voiced ongoing concerns about property maintenance, temporary parking lots on rebuilt sites, development agreements and parking capacity on the island; staff said a searchable GIS zoning map and updated LDC work are planned in the coming year and could support public project tracking.
