Dade County commissioners approve consent agenda including multiple reappointments, ordinance reading and MOU

At its December meeting the Dade County Board of Commissioners approved a broad consent agenda that included numerous personnel appointments and administrative items.

Key items approved on unanimous consent:
- Reappointments: Alan Walters and Jeff Poston to the Board of Assessors (three‑year terms beginning 01/01/2026); Stacy Prater reappointed to the Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority (01/01/2026–12/31/2029); John Case reappointed to the Limestone Valley RC&D (two‑year term 01/01/2026–12/31/2027).
- Appointments to the Special Use Permit Board: Susie Talbot and Sandra Hemming to fill unexpired terms in District 3 and District 4 respectively.
- Award of RFP for Trenton Dade Animal Center shell and footers to Chasler Inc., $182,521.
- Authorization to purchase a used pumper‑tanker up to $300,000 (funding plan: Station 4 SPLOST first, then sale of surplus property/general fund, then Station 1 SPLOST).
- Opioid fund pilot: sponsor 10 Phase‑1 treatment slots at Hand Up Ministries (10 × $3,715 = $37,150).
- Disposal of surplus county equipment (2002 Ford F‑150 and Engine 41) via GovDeals and related budget recognition steps as needed.
- Ordinance 12‑04‑25 (animal control) second reading, updated to align appeals with probate court and to reflect state statutory definitions of dangerous dogs.
- Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension (updates to Addendum B, hiring collaboration language).

The clerk read each consent item into the record before the motion to approve; commissioners took a unanimous recorded vote to pass the consent agenda.
