DeBary approves six traffic-engineering continuing services contracts

The City of DeBary voted to award professional continuing services contracts to six traffic engineering and transportation-planning firms, giving the city a pool of consultants for future traffic and development work.

City engineer Richard Vilsenor described the procurement (Bid No. 25-25), which the purchasing manager and an evaluation panel scored. The council reviewed the recommended six firms: Kittelson Associates; Kimley-Horn Associates; Metric Engineering; Fearn & Piers (transcribed as "Fair and Piers"); LJA Engineering Inc.; and Stanley Consultants Inc. The contracts are three years in length with two one-year renewal options. Staff said there is no cost to the city to approve these contracts; costs will arise only when task orders are issued. Task orders exceeding $50,000 and those not included in the fiscal year budget will require council approval.

Vice Mayor Butlin moved to approve the awards and authorize the city manager to execute the contracts; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. Council members expressed support for maintaining consultant resources as development and traffic demands continue.
