Green Bay traffic commission reviews crash data, highlights enforcement hotspots and no recent fatalities

Traffic staff presented Green Bay Police Department crash and enforcement data for October and November during the Traffic Commission meeting, reporting injury crashes, property-damage counts and hit-and-run incidents and identifying recurring trouble spots such as University Way near Festival Foods, Mason at Maine, and Mason at Baird.

Speaker 5 summarized monthly totals and said staff has focused special enforcement in citywide speeding hotspots and at intersections affected by recent construction. The presentation noted a new roundabout at Mason and Taylor as a recently recorded location for crashes and linked some collisions to temporary lane restrictions during construction.

Chair (Speaker 1) said she was “really happy to see there was no fatalities in October or November,” a development staff described as positive given recent roadway work and holiday travel. Staff also noted a holiday sober-ride program and increased enforcement planned for New Year’s Eve to reduce impaired-driving incidents.

With Sergeant Sean Hamill on the line and no substantive questions from commissioners, the commission voted to receive and place the monthly traffic report on file by voice vote. Commissioners also approved receiving the third-quarter report on serious-injury and fatal crashes.
