Several routine and higher-impact land-use items cleared the council's agenda on Nov. 12. Highlights include unanimous approval of multiple city-initiated rezonings to implement the future land-use element, adoption of the Employment Commercial (EC) zoning district and approval of a large zoning map amendment for Neo City South (approximately 327.4 acres) intended for employment-commercial uses.
Other successful votes included small rezoning requests (Kevin Corner/Kevin Court), park and open-space rezonings (Stephanie Lee Rossign Memorial Park; Cannery Park), the annexation and plan amendments for Nova Road Community Center (consistent with the city's joint planning agreement with Osceola County), and multiple city-initiated map amendments that staff and the planning commission recommended.
Most of these items passed on unanimous roll-call votes. One consent item (previously pulled) and several detailed planning items required separate motions; Item 9 had been removed from the agenda in advance. Where relevant, staff noted conditions in the ordinances (for example, restrictive covenants on small commercial rezonings and realignment conditions on Neo City South related to future roadway improvements).
