Yeadon council eyes CDBG and Greenlight Go funds to replace and upsize sewer on Yeadon Avenue

Councilors on [Yeadon] discussed applying for state and federal grant programs to address aging sanitary infrastructure and traffic signals.

At the meeting, borough staff said the county's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application process requires a public hearing and a council resolution. Staff identified a roughly 400-foot segment on Yeadon Avenue, between Bailey and Redwood, as a priority "to replace and upsize the sanitary pipe" and "improve the system through that area," and said a short report with recommendations will accompany the application. "We will be, based upon our findings and our discussions with public works, kind of generating a ... few page report with recommendations," the staff member said.

The announcement came alongside notice that the Greenlight Go program, a state grant for traffic-signal upgrades, will open in March and that the Church and Whitby intersection could be a qualifying project. Borough staff described the Greenlight Go notice as informational and said no council action was required at the moment.
