Votes at a glance: Board approves most agenda items, rejects one policy provision

The El Paso County Colorado School District 49 Board of Education took votes on several action items during its Dec. 4 meeting.

The board approved the meeting agenda at the start of the session. Action items carried as follows:

- Action 7.1: Approved (motion moved and seconded; roll-call: Haile Aye; Olivia Wright Aye; Schmidt Aye; Thompson Aye; Withers Aye).
- Action 7.2: Approved (motion carried by roll-call vote).
- Action 7.3: Falcon High School new choir proposal approved.
- Action 7.4: Revisions to policy JICDE approved (board had discussed the item extensively at a prior work session).
- Action 7.5: Revisions to policy JICDA provisions were debated; the motion failed on roll-call (Hile No; Olivia Wright No; Schmidt Yes; Thompson Aye; Withers No).
- Action 7.6: Policy and procedure technical changes approved unanimously.

Separately, the board amended the agenda to elevate a Purple Star resolution to action status and subsequently approved the Purple Star resolution to support schools applying for the state Purple Star Award.

Votes were recorded aloud by roll call during the meeting; the board chair announced the outcomes after tallies.
