Falcon Education Foundation awards $20,000+ in 2025 mini-grants; staff and student recognitions

Kayla Maldonado, internal communications manager for District 49 and president of the Falcon Education Foundation, opened the meeting by announcing the foundation's 2025 mini‑grant winners. She said the Foundation awarded over $20,000 to support 29 projects and read the names and grant amounts of recipients. Examples she highlighted included a portable hydroponic garden, freeze‑dried nutrition education, a costume sewing shop, instruments for a world‑music drumming project, and technology for Holocaust speaker video conferencing.

Maldonado asked winners present to stand for applause and directed them to a backdrop for photos. She noted the Foundation received over 85 grant applications this year and praised the breadth of proposals.
