Atchison County finance director to leave in January; commission accepts resignation

Atchison County's finance director submitted a written resignation effective Jan. 2, 2026, and the commission voted to accept it during the Dec. 16 meeting.

Chair read a letter from the finance director announcing his resignation effective Jan. 2, 2026. Commissioners responded with remarks thanking the finance director for his work. One commissioner called the departure "unexpected" and moved to accept the resignation; another commissioner spoke warmly about the finance director's contributions. The motion to accept the resignation was made, seconded and recorded in open session; the record shows appreciation expressed for his service and a vote to accept his resignation.

Commissioners said they would work to retain the institutional knowledge the finance director provided and discussed next steps for filling the role and maintaining continuity in county finances.
