AJ Taylor elected board president as Issaquah reorders leadership

The Issaquah School District board conducted its annual reorganization and internal elections on Dec. 8, naming AJ Taylor as board president for 2026 after a roll‑call style confirmation.

The board opened nominations for president and, with one nominee, took a vote by roll call that resulted in a majority selection of AJ Taylor as president. The presiding officer then handed meeting duties to President Taylor.

The board also filled several representative and liaison roles: Natalie Anderson was confirmed as legislative representative by consensus; AJ Taylor will serve as the WASDA Federal Relations Network representative; Directors Coyne and Mullins were named student representative liaisons; Director Coyne was named fact team liaison; and Director Gallagher agreed to serve as the WIAA liaison. Some liaison assignments did not require a formal roll‑call vote.

In remarks at the reorganization, outgoing leadership thanked board members for service and presented a commemorative gavel to the past president. The board paused for a group photo and then continued into its regular agenda.

Procedural note: the meeting used nominations and consensus voting for many liaison roles; where a formal roll‑call for president was recorded, board members verbally indicated their selected candidate during the roll call.
