Arts Commission appoints two members to student-selection committee; interviews set for Jan. 12–13

The Glendale Arts and Culture Commission on Dec. 18, 2025, voted to appoint Vice Chair Zadorian and Commissioner Kasumian to serve on the panel that will interview candidates for the commission’s ex‑officio student commissioner openings.

Staff told the commission it had received seven applications for the student-commissioner positions and said interviews are tentatively scheduled for Monday, Jan. 12, and Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, each from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The staff presentation noted the appointment is required by Section 2.e.1 of a previously adopted resolution governing student-commissioner selection procedures.

Commissioners discussed logistics and availability; several commissioners self‑nominated to serve on the interview panel. A motion to appoint Vice Chair Zadorian and Commissioner Kasumian was made and seconded and passed on a roll call vote with recorded 'Yes' votes from Vice Chair Zadorian, Commissioner Kasumian, Commissioner Bedor and Chairperson Yang.

The interviews will be conducted in person, according to staff. The commission did not specify whether the interviews would be open to the public or whether a written scoring rubric will be used.
