Friends of the Camarillo Library donate $134,000; library-board officers selected during reorganization

The Friends of the Camarillo Library presented the organization's annual donation of $134,000 to the city at the Dec. 10 council meeting. Jolene Warren, president of the Friends' board, thanked volunteers and said about 87 people contributed nearly 15,000 hours of service to the library over the past year.

Council members spoke in gratitude for the group's long-term support; Mayor Kildee and other council members encouraged community members to donate books and volunteer. The council then completed reorganization items tied to the library: Susan Santangelo was nominated and elected president of the Camarillo Library Board; Council Member Tremblay was elected president pro tem.

The meeting record shows the Friends' donation supports books, materials and programming; council members described the library as a key community asset and noted the volunteer base keeps programming robust.
