Elkhart County commissioners approve minutes, payroll claims and ratify hearing officer order

The Elkhart County Board of Commissioners opened its Dec. 1, 2025 meeting with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance and then moved through routine business, approving the Nov. 24 meeting minutes and signing off on payroll and regular claims.

An unidentified meeting official introduced the minutes and a motion to approve was made, seconded and recorded as carrying unanimously. Later, a presenter said payroll and regular claims had been reviewed and were ready for the board's approval; that motion was also seconded and carried unanimously.

On a separate item, County Attorney Steve Olson told the commissioners that a township assistance hearing officer had conducted a hearing on an assistance-determination appeal and that "the order is before you and ready for ratification." The board moved to ratify the hearing officer's order; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously.

With no board items or privileges of the floor raised, the chair moved to adjourn, the motion was seconded and the meeting concluded.
