Chester — Staff told the Chester City Planning Commission on Dec. 10 that the applicant for a proposed restaurant near Harrow’s has withdrawn its application, so the commission took no action on that project at the meeting.
Commissioners spent the meeting on routine business and planning updates. Staff highlighted several items: an amendment scheduled for the city council’s agenda that evening; ordinance work involving a Tradesmen Construction headquarters; and plans to modernize zoning language for short‑term rentals, transitional housing and group homes to ensure operations align with appropriate zoning districts. Staff also said they will post finalized ordinance language to the city’s web page after council action.
Commissioners confirmed scheduling and deadline changes. Susan (last name provided on the roll call) signed an extension for M Property LLC that moves the item to March 10, 2026, pushing consideration of that project several months. The commission also confirmed its next regular meeting will be the second Wednesday in January, on Jan. 14, 2026.
On mapping and materials, commissioners requested a larger, printable zoning map for use at meetings; staff agreed to share a printable version by email and to prepare a six‑month meeting schedule and related materials.
No formal votes on development projects or ordinance adoptions were recorded in the commission’s transcript for this meeting. Where items will return to the commission depends on council actions and the new extension dates.
The commission concluded its information items and proceeded to adjournment.
