Commission approves initial design review for Toyota Murfreesboro repair facility with screening conditions

The Murfreesboro Planning Commission approved an initial design review for a proposed 7,500‑square‑foot motor vehicle repair facility accessory to motor vehicle sales in the Gateway area.

Staff said the property was previously rezoned to allow the use and that the current submittal is a site plan that would authorize building permits once final design review is complete. Staff highlighted rooftop RTU locations and a required screen wall; during discussion, staff said the applicant agreed to raise the parapet and change screen‑wall color to reduce visual contrast, and that a line‑of‑sight study will show whether raised parapets sufficiently screen equipment from the right of way.

A commissioner moved to approve the plan "such as staff comments;" following a second, the commission voted and the chair declared the application passed. Staff said revised elevations and a line‑of‑sight study should be submitted at final design review.
