Westfield council adopts multiple ordinances and routine financial resolutions

The Westfield Town Council approved a slate of ordinances, routine financial actions and resolutions during a brief meeting.

Ordinances adopted included: General Ordinance 2025-20 (amending chapter 13 of the town code); General Ordinance 2025-21 (prohibiting posting of advertisements or offensive language in public spaces, amended to reference NJSA 2C:34-3); and General Ordinance 2025-22 (amending chapters 8 and 35 to establish regulations for the control of plastic dust and contaminants). Each ordinance was moved, seconded, and adopted by roll call.

Administrative approvals included acceptance of minutes for listed executive-session and regular meetings, and the approval of bills and claims totaling $377,139.11. Councilman Matthews moved a consent-style package of resolutions that included authority to draw warrants for overpaid taxes, an affordability assistance grant for a tenant at 1312 Echo Lane, insertion of a special revenue item of $84,000 for a local recreation improvement grant (for tennis-court renovations at Memorial Pool), and insertion for the national opioid settlement; the package also included a budget transfer. All items in the package were adopted by roll call.

Council adjourned after adopting the agenda items; no contested votes were recorded in the transcript.
