Board approves consent agenda and votes to enter closed session to discuss negotiations

The Omaha Public Schools Board of Education approved the consent agenda on Dec. 17 after board members discussed potential recusals on a specific consent claim. The motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Mister Smith and seconded by Mister Thielen; the chair called roll and the motion passed.

Later in the meeting Miss Snipes moved that the board go into closed session "for the protection of the public interest and for the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of individuals" to discuss negotiations and receive legal advice with the superintendent, the board secretary, chief of staff (Mister Shane Ryan) and legal counsel. The motion carried on roll call; the board entered closed session at 8:16 p.m., reconvened and adjourned at 9:25 p.m.
