Parks staff recommend design contract for Meyer Mills and move Pleasant Lake playground to full board

Parks staff told the committee they completed the design solicitation phase for Meyer Mills County Park and recommended awarding the design contract to Roe Professional Services, and they presented a separate playground replacement proposal for Pleasant Lake County Park.

Kyle said the Meyer Mills work is the design phase for improvements funded by a DNR trust fund grant. The department solicited six proposals, shortlisted three based on relevant DNR grant experience and selected the lowest-priced qualified proposal. Kyle recommended Roe Professional Services based on price and proximity to ongoing design work near the park.

On Pleasant Lake County Park, Kyle said the team advertised a $225,000 budget, held three public input meetings (including with Henrietta Township), and received bids. Sinclair Recreation’s proposal was larger and included additional accessibility features, which increased the price. The township is contributing $8,400 toward the project — including $6,000 remaining from the original community build — and Kyle said the proposed total is $259,100. The committee voted to accept the Meyer Mills design recommendation and to forward the Sinclair Recreation playground proposal to the full board for approval.

Kyle emphasized community involvement for the Pleasant Lake replacement, noting the original playground was community-built and stakeholders were consulted on design choices and accessibility additions.
