Commissioners approve $1.16M in claims, allied-health payments, a $6,221 fund transfer for county mobile app and 2026 COBRA rates

Adams County commissioners approved a set of routine but material financial items at the meeting, including a large accounts-payable cycle, insurance claims, an office fund transfer for a county app, and COBRA rate estimates for 2026.

County staff presented accounts-payable claims totaling $1,157,002.87 and said a primary reason for the high total was a bond payment that is in the current closing cycle. Commissioners reviewed the claims; Stan said he had one question already addressed with the sheriff and moved to pay the claims. The motion passed.

Staff also presented weekly allied health insurance claims totaling $112,002.75, with the medical portion at about $14,041 and prescription costs around $98,002.75. Commissioners expressed concern about high prescription expenses but accepted the weekly claims and approved payment.

Commissioners approved a fund transfer of $6,221 from unemployment to county promotions to pay for a county communication/mobile app (DMA is developing the app). Staff said this move transfers money within the commissioner's budget to cover the app purchase.

Benefits staff presented 2026 COBRA rate estimates developed by USI to reflect expected costs plus COBRA-allowed administrative adjustments; commissioners reviewed the breakdown and approved the estimated rates that will be used for former-employee coverage and billing of other entities.

No additional formal budget amendments or external grants were adopted at the meeting; commissioners approved routine motions to pay claims and accept the presented rates and transfers.
