Council ratifies Jared Nygren as city manager with unanimous vote

The Kalispell City Council on Dec. 15 approved an employment agreement with Jared Nygren for the position of city manager.

Councilors who spoke in favor cited Nygren’s long service in planning and experience filling in as acting city manager. The city attorney said the packet included a copy of the proposed contract and a memo summarizing salient terms. Councilor Graham moved to approve the agreement; multiple council members expressed confidence in Nygren’s abilities, and the council voted unanimously in favor.

Nygren, who has served in the city organization for more than a decade, reminded the council of upcoming schedule items, including no meeting on Dec. 22 and that council-seat applications are open through Jan. 4. Council members welcomed the prospect of his formal appointment and expressed hope he would sign the contract.
