Care & Treatment Board reports $1.6M in recent grants, plans smaller future grant cycle

Todd Baker, speaking for the Care and Treatment Board, reported on the current grant cycle that awarded funding to Best Buddies, Camp Big Sky, Community Workshop and Training Center, Easterseals, EPIC and Hizra — a total of about $1.6 million. "We receive quarterly reports from each one of the agencies that we fund," Baker said, emphasizing oversight and site visits.

Baker said the board plans to grant between $1.1 million and $1.2 million in the upcoming year and has worked with grantees in advance so they understand the reduced budget outlook. He invited committee members to visit funded sites to see program impacts.

During Q&A Baker said funds support day programs, skills training to transition participants into the workforce, and recreational opportunities. No formal board actions were taken at the health committee meeting.
