Peoria County board debates cutting workforce dashboard to six-month cadence

Peoria County staff presented an October workforce dashboard and told the board the county will shift the workforce dashboard to a six-month reporting cadence and produce vacancy reports quarterly. Angela, who introduced the report, said the dashboard's top third shows applicants and new hires, the middle third shows demographics by gender and race, and the bottom third shows separations.

Several board members raised concerns about reducing the frequency of the workforce dashboard. One member said the committee's work centers on staff, workforce and demographics and warned that slowing the reporting cadence "could have a negative effect on what we're trying to accomplish." Eden asked whether the change was requested by the committee chair or vice chair and urged clarity on who authorized the shift. Chair Menwicker was cited as having requested the new schedule while staff said the cadence will be re-evaluated if it proves problematic.

Angela also presented an October vacancy snapshot comparing filled and vacant positions against July's figures and brought a quarterly liability and workers' compensation report (Q3 through September), describing claim-year breakdowns and costs. Board members raised no substantive follow-up questions on the vacancy or liability snapshots.

The board did not take formal action on the workforce dashboard cadence at this meeting; members requested a follow-up discussion to ensure the new schedule aligns with the committee's oversight work.
