Boundary Commission ratifies public members, elects chair and approves minutes

The Utah County Boundary Commission ratified three public-member appointments at its Dec. 3 meeting and administered oaths to the newly appointed members. Commissioners approved the ratifications by voice vote and then proceeded to elect a chair.

Mayor Carla Merrill was nominated and elected by the commission to serve as chair for a two-year term. Commissioners voted in favor of the nomination; the chair then led the transfer to the main annexation item on the agenda.

The commission also approved minutes from the Nov. 8, 2021 meeting after a brief discussion about a technicality (most current commissioners had not been present at that prior meeting). Following these housekeeping items, the commission moved to the contested annexation hearing involving the Money property between Spanish Fork and Springville cities.
