Rowan library director asks Wright County for operating increase and $5,000 tech grant

Josephine Miller, director of the Rowan Public Library, told Wright County supervisors the county’s libraries collaborated on programming and services and asked the board to include a 3% budget increase and a $5,000 technology grant in next year’s budget.

Miller said libraries across the county had expanded nontraditional programs — from summer reading and pumpkin‑carving to community crafts and off‑site events — and stressed that a single library card gives county residents access to all libraries in the shared system. She requested the board consider a modest operating increase and a one-time $5,000 technology grant, described as $1,000 per participating library, to cover needed computer and equipment upgrades.

Supervisors thanked Miller for the presentation and said they would take the request into account during annual budget planning. No appropriation was made at the meeting; officials noted the request will be considered during the upcoming budgeting process.
