Commissioners approve pharmacy services letter and two judicial grants totaling roughly $566,344

The Pickens County Board of Commissioners approved a letter of commitment with QUVA pharmacy to supply medications for fire and rescue units beginning in 2026 and authorized the chairman to sign necessary documentation, the chairman said.

Separately, the board accepted two judicial grant awards and authorized signature of required documents. The first grant — referred to in the record as a GOCAT award — is $409,685.40 and would fund medically assisted treatment, housing and dental services for accountability court participants and a lease for a Pickens treatment center; the chairman said the grant requires no local match. The second is a FY2026 ARPA grant of $156,659 that will fund half of a judicial finance assistant position, a victim advocate position, senior judges’ psychological assessments, and reimburse counties for court reporter expenses.

Both grants were presented by the chairman and approved by motion and second; the meeting record shows unanimous 'aye' responses with no opposition voiced in the public record.

What’s next: County staff will execute the documents authorized by the board and integrate the grant revenues into the appropriate judicial and special funds.
