Council grants National Grid petitions for poles and manholes on three Brockton streets

The City Council held hearings and granted three National Grid petitions on Nov. 24 to install poles and related infrastructure in Brockton.

At the Torrey Street hearing, Jared Acre of National Grid said the work will connect two feeders and requires poles for risers and manholes to route cable underground. There were no public comments in favor or opposition; the council granted the petition by hand vote.

At Perkins Avenue, Acre said the 35-foot pole is needed to address a safety concern where service lines were sagging and tied to a tree; Councilor Linda Castro confirmed the work is in her ward and that the affected homeowner had no objection. The petition was granted.

At Braemore Road, National Grid requested a 40-foot pole to energize a new residential development (Braemore Estates). Acre explained the pole will continue the primary distribution for the new development; no opposition appeared and the council granted the petition.

All three petitions were presented without public opposition and were approved by the council in separate hearings. The decisions permit National Grid to proceed with the described work subject to any conditions in the city clerk’s filing and standard permitting.
