Council conditionally approves transfer of Bean Barn liquor license to Ronnie’s Tavern

The Coventry Town Council conditionally approved a transfer of a class B liquor license from the Bean Barn to the prospective new operator of Ronnie’s Tavern and Coffee House.

Applicant Ronald (Ron) Forshet told the council his purchase closing is scheduled for Dec. 15 and the transfer application was before the town. Town staff reported several outstanding items required before final licensing: submitted sewer paperwork pending return, Board of Health approval, TIP certification, and a fire‑marshal inspection. Councilmember Holle moved to approve the transfer contingent on receipt of those required documents; the motion carried by voice vote.

Why it matters: The council framed the action to avoid delaying a local business while ensuring public‑health and safety conditions are met before the license becomes final.

What’s next: The clerk and town manager will confirm the outstanding items are submitted; the council asked staff to notify the council when conditions are satisfied so the license can be finalized.
