Tipton County Schools expands CTE offerings with aviation and healthcare pathways, partners with University of Memphis and TCAT

District instructional staff told the board they are expanding career and technical education offerings. Brighton High School plans to offer manned-aviation coursework while Covington High will offer unmanned aviation (drones); both schools sent representatives for AOPA aviation training in Indianapolis to prepare for the 2026-27 school year.

Staff also reported a grant referred to in the transcript as the "Bridal Healthcare Pathways Expansion" grant that will support dual-enrollment anatomy and physiology courses across the district's high schools with the goal of creating a physical-therapy pathway and expanding healthcare-related CTE opportunities. District staff said they are working with the University of Memphis and TCAT to create engineering and STEM pathways as well and plan to use the university's STEM hub resources for elementary through high-school STEM activities.

Administrators said some dual-enrollment elements may take until August 2027 to be in place, and they will continue negotiating with postsecondary partners and TCAT to finalize pathways. The presentations emphasized the district's strategic plan progress and the goal of expanding student opportunities across CTE and STEM.
