Board member asks whether meetings should move out of legislature after session limits time to 90 minutes

Member Brenton raised a concern about the board's meeting schedule during the legislative session, noting the published Thursday meeting time was reduced to 90 minutes and asking whether the board should instead meet elsewhere to avoid that constraint. "Would we be better off to bring our meetings here so that we aren't limited to 90 minutes?" Brenton asked.

The chair responded that the board had discussed the same issue previously and decided to keep meetings at the legislature to accommodate members who attend sessions or committees around that time and to provide a hard stop to keep the agenda moving. "We have board members who attend those sessions and or committees oftentimes surrounding our meetings," the chair said, adding that while members would welcome longer meetings, moving locations could create travel burdens and that additional meetings could be scheduled if more time were needed.

No formal change to the meeting location or length was adopted during the discussion; members agreed the balance between time and convenience remains difficult and that the option of scheduling supplemental meetings exists.
