The Grayson County Board of Supervisors approved a list of appointments to regional boards and commissions, adopted the county budget calendar for fiscal years 2026–27 and scheduled an organizational meeting.
Chair recommended primary representatives to the Bristol Regional Improvement Commission, Mount Rogers committees and other regional bodies. The board moved to approve the appointments as stated by the chair and carried the motion by voice vote.
The board also approved the budget calendar as presented; staff said meetings are normally set at 3 p.m. unless otherwise noted and the calendar can be adjusted as needed. The county administrator announced several retirements, including Mitch Smith, who will retire next month and whose retirement event is scheduled for Jan. 23 at the courthouse.
During supervisors’ time a board member requested staff prepare a proclamation and a roadside sign related to the death of Jeremy Hall; staff said VDOT had been contacted and a draft resolution/proclamation would be prepared for a future meeting. The board adjourned after a short closing.
