Council approves LSC Environmental bid for landfill alternate daily cover

Tangipahoa Parish Council approved awarding the landfill alternate daily cover supply to LSC Environmental Products LLC after staff indicated it was the lone bidder. The product was described as a 500-pound sack that converts to 1,000 gallons of liquid; the unit price reported on the record was $397.25 per 1,000 gallons. Annual freight was estimated at $17,724 and annual procurement volume was characterized as roughly $110,000–$140,000 depending on need.

Council members said the product is budgeted and required for landfill operation. The motion to approve the purchase was seconded and approved by roll call.

Staff noted the purchase frequency is approximately three to four orders per year and that without the material the landfill cannot operate on its current schedule. The contract and procurement were described as within the existing budget.
