The Tri-City United School District board unanimously accepted a package of donations and grants and approved routine financial items during its regular meeting.
Under a resolution approved by roll call, trustees accepted numerous donations designated by donors: 20 Barton pumpkins to Montgomery kindergarten; 35 pumpkins to PBIS and STEAM programs; $1,000 each from David and Mary Krennick and Winco Lee Center for high-school weight-room lockers; $700 from The Toy Box to support a coach bus for the swim team; $250 from the Knights of Columbus for high-school PBIS; $1,000 from the Sheriff's Youth Project for Lee Center school patrol; $575 from the Redeemer ELCA Women for Lee Center student needs; $423.80 from an Auto Club Group for school patrol; and $100 from St. Mary's Thrift Store to support Lee Center adopt-a-family efforts. The resolution passed on a roll-call vote recorded as: Cindy — Yes; Marsha — Yes; Trevor — Yes; Josh — Yes; Chris — Yes; Hillary — Yes.
The board also approved accepting a $1,000 grant from the Traverse des Sioux Library System for the Montgomery grades 5–8 media center and accepted a $20,000 Future Ready CTE Impact Grant from the South Center Service Cooperative to purchase equipment for CTE fabrication and makerspaces. Board members publicly credited district staff — including Jeff Balman (credited in the meeting) — for writing and securing the CTE grant. The board approved bills in the amount of $1,058,822.52 under the consent agenda.
All grant and donation motions passed unanimously (6–0). The district will administer the funds in accordance with donor designations and grant terms.
